Class Experience

In this online class students will learn important money basics and how they relate to math. Students will learn how addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions play an important role in many careers as well as daily living tasks such as cooking, laundry, vacation, and figuring out how to create a simple budget at any age.  
Students will gain an understanding of why math is important and useful as well as practice real world math problems that will strengthen their application of math in everyday life.

This class will encourage collaborative discussion, application of math strategies in real world uses of the information learned during their regular school day as well as in this class.

Week of  May  8, Topic: Division and Money
Week of May 15, Topic: Fractions and Money
Week of May 22, : Topic: Measurement and Money
Week of May 29, : Topic: Minimum Wage across the United States
Week of June 5, : Topic: Percentages and Money
Week of June 12, : Topic: Budgets

Each week students will learn about the topic provided, practice the use of said topic through real world examples.
Each week's topic will provide the learner opportunity to learn specific definitions  analysis, discussion, and engage in real world examples of these topics

The teacher will employ the use of various strategies such as video, discussion, music, slides, and games to engage learners in the topic.

Each learner will have the opportunity to interact collaboratively with the teacher and other learners throughout each session.

Students need to know their multiplication facts, and basic reading skills. No other skills are required to have success in this class.

Learning Goals

Students will gain knowledge of how to apply math skills to use with money in the real world.
