Assignments
Persuasive Essay: Students will research and write a persuasive essay on a topic of their choice, utilizing the techniques learned in class. Advertisement Mini-Project: An independent project where students create a marketing campaign for a fictional product, employing persuasive appeals and techniques. Peer Review Feedback: Students will engage in a structured peer review process, providing and receiving feedback on their essays to enhance their revision skills.

Class Description:
In this self-paced course, "Mastering Persuasive Writing," secondary-level students will learn essential skills to craft compelling arguments and persuasive messages. Throughout the course, students will explore various persuasive techniques, including ethos, pathos, and logos, and how to apply them in their writing and presentations effectively.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a focus on English, which means I’m trained to teach students how to think critically and express their ideas clearly. Right now, I’m also working on my Master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology at Purdue University. This advanced training helps me create exciting and effective online learning experiences.

In Arizona, I’m certified to teach English Language Arts for grades 6-12 and Family and Consumer Sciences for K-12. I also hold a certification for teaching Communication Arts/Literature for grades 5-8 in Minnesota. This range of teaching credentials allows me to connect with students of all ages and support their learning in different subjects.

I have hands-on experience teaching middle and high school students, where I focus on important skills like persuasive writing and critical thinking. I really enjoy working with students in this age group and have built a positive and engaging classroom environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas.
