Class experience
LISTENING is......hearing, paying attention and understanding. It seems like a simple enough concept, but so many people today lack this really important life skill…and it’s showing. Poor listening skills can lead to misunderstandings, frustration, arguments, hurt feelings, miscommunications…and the list goes on and on. In a nutshell, poor listening skills hurt you and everyone around you. This class is a part of my LIFE SKILLS TOOLBOX SERIES. This series is focused on my passion and...
In this class, students will: 1. learn what LISTENING really means. 2. understand why strong listening skills are important. 3. experience what it feels like NOT to be heard. 4. practice and develop concrete skills they can incorporate into their daily lives. 5. earn their LISTENING badge and certificate. 6. HAVE FUN!
Professionally, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have a Masters of Education (MEd) and Masters of Social Work (MSW) with a focus on Child Development (Risk and Prevention). My passion is helping children realize their potential by teaching them skills to help them lead positive, productive lives. I know that learning happens best in an environment that is engaging and interactive. My goal is to teach material in a way that is fun and memorable.
1 file available upon enrollmentA printer will be needed to print out handouts (3-6 pages) and a 3-hole punch so you can add these pages to your binder. Also, crayons/markers/colored pencils (whatever you have) will be used after class to complete the assignments. Some homework assignments may also require safety scissors (with adult supervision) and glue. If you would like to complete the "MY BEST ME" binder to organize all of your LIFE SKILLS SERIES materials, you will need a half-inch binder (or 1 inch if you can't find a 1/2 inch binder) with a clear front pocket.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parental involvement is encouraged so that the ideas we talk about in class can be reinforced between classes. Repetition and reinforcement is critical, especially with little learners. The more my little learners are talking about these concepts outside of class, the easier it will be for them to incorporate them into their daily lives and mindset.
Hi! I am a firm believer that every child has incredible potential within them and is capable of amazing things. I love helping them realize this truth and then arming them with tools, skills and a little direction to uncover that potential. I...
