Class Experience
In this ongoing class, your child will have the opportunity to gain one-on-one help with the teacher in any of the below subject areas (if you have a subject that you do not see on this list, please feel free to message me to see if I can assist). Students can bring existing work to the session they need help with and I am happy to provide extra resources/practice if need be. *Parents/guardians - if you have a time that better works for your schedule, please feel free to request a time and I will see what I can do to accommodate your request. *Parents/guardians - if you have a child that does not fit this age bracket and you would like to sign them up for tutoring, please reach out. I am more than happy to tutor outside of this age range. Subjects of expertise include: - Reading - Reading comprehension - Sentence writing - Paragraph writing - Essay writing - Grammar and spelling - Summarizing: main idea, supporting details - Research-based courses - Novel studies My teaching style is unique as I like to engage the learner and ensure the lesson is not solely lecture-based. I will use different resources to ensure we can communicate effectively to ensure the best use of our time (and to ensure I am adapting to different learning styles). Depending on the needs of the student, I can have videos, slides, practice questions, etc. ready for the tutoring session. As this is an ongoing class, students will have the opportunity to work with me on a regular basis in order to enhance their skills. *If your child is outside of the age range please private message me so that I can determine if I can accommodate their strengths and needs. I look forward to helping you Level Up! Upon registering, please tell me what you wish to focus on. If the student could please bring some homework samples with them, that would be extremely helpful. Thanks! I look forward to working with you! :) Here is what we can cover if the student comes to the class with no other work they are needing help with: Session One - Introduction and Assessment Session Two - Summary Writing Session Three - Non fiction summary writing Session Four - Fictional summary writing Session Five - Opinion writing Session Six - Common grammar errors Session Seven - Using evidence from texts to support an opinion
Learning Goals
Students will work to progress in a certain subject area(s) that they have identified. We will work on their individual areas of need in order to make it a strength.
