Class Experience

**This class is based on my Let's Talk About Cats live class; however, this is a flexible schedule class, so no live meetings will be held.**

Do you love cats? Are you wondering how you can learn more about taking care of your favorite pet? This is the class for you! In this four week class, students will learn:
-How to carefully care for a cat
-How to make their pet feel loved
-What some of the common characteristics of cats are
-Some of the benefits of owning a cat
-How cats are special and unique animals
-What the most common characteristics of cats are
-Information about big cats

Here's what you can expect:

Each Monday, the teacher will post a short video message for students to watch. Then students will receive a task to complete before Friday. Students will learn through worksheets, videos, short readings, and even handouts provided by the teacher. Students will be expected to participate in classroom discussions and complete their homework assignments each week.

Week One: Do you have a cat? This week is all about the benefits of owning a cat. Students will watch a video by the teacher and then share pictures in the classroom of their own cats. Students can share pictures of their pet cats, toy cats, or even drawings they created of cats. Students will answer discussion questions directly in the classroom.

Week Two: What are the characteristics of cats? What are some things that cats are good at? Students will watch a video provided by the teacher, as well as review several handouts about cat characteristics. Students will write a short response sharing what their cat is good at and what makes their cat special! Students will play a game in the classroom with the teacher.

Week Three: What's the best way to care for a cat? This week, students will learn about cat healthcare and how to take care of their kitty. We will discuss living spaces, health, and diet. Students will complete a worksheet about cat care. Then, the teacher will post a discussion question. Students will answer a question and ask one of their own. Each student should respond to at least two other learners. Getting involved and sharing ideas about cat care is one of the best ways to become a responsible pet owner!

Week Four: What's cool about big cats? In our final week, we'll discuss lions, tigers, and more. Students will have a chance to discuss their favorite big cats and why they're so incredible. This week, students will have a short writing assignment comparing and contrasting their own cats with a big cat of their choosing. The teacher will provide the details of the assignment, which should take no more than 30 minutes outside of class. Students will post their paragraph in the classroom so that the teacher can provide feedback and more ideas the students can use to further develop their writing assignment.

I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Communication isn't always easy, but in my classes, students learn that it can be fun! I offer writing, communication, and social classes based on topics kids love. Learning doesn't have to be boring, so I offer Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite, and even Harry Potter classes designed to get your learners thinking about different ways to share their thoughts and express themselves. I offer writing, science, and social classes designed to help your learner share their thoughts in a safe environment.

I hope that after class, each student will walk away from our time together feeling more confident and comfortable with their own communication skills. My goal as an educator is to help students feel great about their writing and communication skills and to learn how to improve in new and creative ways.

I'm a professional writer with 19 years of experience as an article creator, novelist, and editor. I've published several bestselling books and love both creative and technical writing. I also teach writing at homeschool co-ops and online for teens and adults.

I hold a M.A. in English.
