There will be no formal assessment. I do ask that your learner practice their vocabulary 10-15 minutes daily.Class Experience
In this 4-week, 2x weekly Spanish class we will learn Spanish through imitation, practice and repetition with puppets, stories, games, and song. Knowing a second language can be an enormous confidence booster for children. Knowing a second language helps children to see themselves as smart and capable. And when you believe it, you can be it. So, join us for a fun time as we learn Spanish, songs, vocabulary about animals, home, food, clothing, as well as the structure of the language and so much more. As a language teacher I use repetition in an effective way, engaging my little learner's whole body by using games, chants, song and total physical response throughout my lesson to reinforce what I am teaching in each of my classes. Little learners have a lot of energy and it is my goal to keep them busy and challenged as we learn Spanish. My teaching style is interactive and we learn how to introduce ourselves and make new friends, all in Spanish. Join me and ¡Vamos a aprender español! (Let’s learn Spanish!). * Beginning Spanish Part - 1 is not required to take this class. This class teaches new vocabulary and extends upon Part - 1 vocabulary and simple verbs being used in sentences. So, feel free to join us in Beginning Spanish Part - 2. This class meets CCSS (Common Core State Standards) for second languages and California SLD (Spanish Language Development) standards: WL.CM1.N, WL.CM2.N, WL.CM3.N, WL.CM4.N, WL.CM5.N, WL.CM6.N, WL.CM7.N Materials to have on hand during class: Crayons and paper to draw upon Printouts
Learning Goals
The students will be learning a verb and Spanish words each class to be able to begin forming simple sentences. Each class will focus on a group of words for your little learner to practice and use as well as reviewing vocabulary learned in Part - #1. It will be an absolute pleasure to encourage your child to learn Spanish and have fun learning through physical response, song, chants, and games.
