Description
Class Experience
Hi and welcome to Outschool. In this class I will review with students the basics of American Sign Language, ASL. We will review the alphabet, numbers and basic vocabulary . This will allow us to get to know each other as we will practice our names and common phrases. We will expand our knowledge of Deaf Culture and learn new vocabulary. I am animated as one should be when communicating with ASL. I promise this will be a fun experience for your child as they begin to learn a new language!...
Students will gain beginner knowledge of American Sign Language. This practice is helpful to improve fine motor skills and learn a new language while having fun!
If able, I would like to the students to also make a copy of the ASL alphabet. This is available online on many sights as a free print out. I will ask the students to practice spelling their names, family members names and their friends.
A 1 page handout will be shared.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will informally assess the student knowledge as we progress.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
