Class Experience

During this class students will draw and cut a tree to a specific size to match their canvas.  We will discuss colors and students will make their own choices.  They will apply tissue paper to create an eye catching background and finally position the tree carefully to complete the picture.  
I will guide the students step by step though all stages of the project.
No previous experience is necessary for this class.  Faster workers maybe able to create multiple pictures - double appropriate...

Students will learn careful drawing and cutting skills.
They will learn about cool and warm colors on the color wheel.
Students will create a collage using tissue paper and card.

I studied in England to obtain my Bachelor of Education degree with an Art and Design specialism.  I have enjoyed the position of Art and Design coordinator.  

During my years as a teacher some of my most memorable and rewarding times were as the after school “Art Club” teacher.  I love to be surrounded by those who enjoy creating.  I throw very little away and am always asking myself “What can i make with that?’

I love to create with all manner of materials exploring color, texture, line, form, pattern and composition. Our house is filled with all the imaginative things my daughters and I have made over the years.  I am a patient and enthusiastic teacher who believes that art is available to all no matter their experience.

Students may need to finish their projects after class if they do not finish within class time.

  1 file available upon enrollment1 piece of black card (the same size as your canvas)
1 canvas any size smaller than A4 (board or gallery wrapped this should be the same size as your black card)
Scissors
A light colored pencil (white shows up well on black card)
PVA/ Mod Podge white glue - (gloss if you would like a lovely shine to your finished work)
Flat edged paintbrush
Small tissue paper squares - roughly an inch square - (these are available on amazon or you could cut your own before class)
Small pot with water
Old cloth or kitchen roll sheets
Scrap paper and something to protect your work surface
An apron to protect your clothes

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

My only assessment is that the students enjoyed the creative process within the class.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
