During this one-time preschool class that integrates Math and English, we will do a read-aloud of the book: “Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons” by Eric Litwin and James Dean and do and addition and subtraction activity with buttons.

Class Experience

In this one-time Preschool class learners will enjoy a fun  read-aloud and math game. We will begin class with are Welcome and Hello songs. We will then read the book: “Pete The Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons” by Eric Litwin and James Dean where learners will have a countdown adventure with Pete the Cat and his favorite shirt that has groovy buttons. After the read-aloud, we will do some simple addition and subtraction problems (with numbers 1 through 5) using a yellow shirt like Pete's and some groovy buttons. We will sing counting songs before we close with the Goodbye song.

- comprehension skills
- simple addition and subtraction  with one-digit numbers 1 through 5

I am passionate about early childhood literacy and literacy has always been an integral part of my classroom. I have seven years teaching experience with preschool-aged children. I hold a Professional Educators license with endorsements in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a concentration in Reading and Language Arts. I will be doing focused story times often integrating reading with math, science, and social studies. I will also be doing “double features” which feature two books that are the same in some way: topic, author, or series. My favorite is reading a fiction and non-fiction book on the same topic. This is a fun way to introduce young readers to non-fiction. My classes are interactive with songs and games. I enjoy traveling and going to museums and plays.
