Learning English as an Additional Language (Age 9-13) 2X a Week

This class is for students that are learning English.   Learning a new language is tough, and doesn't happen without a lot of effort and a lot of time.  This class is designed to help the student progress in their ability all the way to fluency if they persevere through the challenges. Student's English ability will be determined through basic conversation and activities.  Depending on the needs of the student, the time will be structured around the four parts of learning language: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Students are also able to suggest a certain area to focus the class time.  

The class sizes will be very small so that students can have personal attention from the teacher, but also be able to learn from their fellow students.  Activities such as reading a loud in a safe environment, practicing dialogue, and other collaborative work will be implemented to encourage students in their language learning.  Students with different ability levels being together can be quite beneficial as they work together, boost each other's confidence, and encourage one another.

The class can also be organized to be one-on-one with the teacher if that is preferred by family.

The activities are designed for more exposure to the language and providing a safe place for students to practice their new language. Continual use and exposure to English is the best way to improve.  Audio clips, stories, articles, discussion topics, and other mediums to elicit language learning will be chosen by the teacher based upon the interests of the students.
