What's included
Homework
Learners are encouraged to watch the weekly videos more than one time to practice and reinforce the steps each week.Class Experience
There are NO live meetings for this class. This 4 week class includes instruction for the basic techniques for Irish Dance and the basic Reel. Instructor, Peggy Cannon, wears color coded clothing to make it easy to follow and learn. Videos will be posted each week by 12:00 PM EST on Monday. In each video segment the step will be slowly demonstrated and explained in detail. Learners will then follow along with the video and do the step faster and eventually with music. Each week will feature a building block of the Reel and by the end of the 8 weeks learners will build those blocks into a complete Reel step and routine. Each week learners will be given a challenge to reinforce what they learned during the videos of the week. Learners are encouraged to share the completion of their challenge in the class room. Learners are also encouraged to interact with the instructor and classmates weekly by posting videos of their dances and asking questions. Week 1 includes the following video instruction: The Basics (Techniques such as toes out, cross feet, tip toes, etc.) The Sideways Step (This is a basic important element of the Reel) Other various moves which are used in Reel Steps Week 2 includes the following video instruction: The Skip (This is a moving step used in steps and groups) The Figure 8 (This is a move that incorporates the Skip Step) Over the Log (This is a jumping movement used in Reel Steps) Week 3 includes the following video instruction: Reel Steps (Learners will learn various complete Reel Steps) Week 4 includes the following video instruction: Putting it all together!
Learning Goals
My goal is to provide an interactive learning experience which will allow the children to learn the unique art of Irish Dance at their own pace and according to their own schedule. Although there are no live meetings learners will interact with the teacher and classmates through classroom posts.
