Homework
I can assign homework based on individual needs, but this is up to each learner.Assessment
Usually, the first class with me is an informal assessment so that I understand the level and needs of each learner.Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 10
This course is for beginning English learners. I have 10 pre-developed courses to select from that help students read, write, and speak in English. If you select one of my pre-developed courses, students will focus on a single topic for around 8 lessons. The goal would be mastery of the sight words, vocabulary, and topic. We will focus on reading, writing, and speaking about the topic. Some topics include Home and Family, House Pets, Five Food Groups and Food, Rooms in my Home, etc. I can change my course to meet the needs of individual learners. I can also work with more advanced students helping them with their English learning needs.
Learning Goals
We will work on vocabulary growth, reading comprehension, writing words and basic sentences, proper grammar, sight words, etc.
For advanced learners, we can focus on the areas of need including but not limited to advanced phonics, grammar, writing different types of stories, reading comprehension, speaking, and pronunciation practice.

Master's Degree in Education from University of New Mexico
Hello, my name is teacher Khara.
I am currently teaching math, science, and social studies to two rotating 5th-grade classes. Both my bachelor's and master's degree in education are from the University of New Mexico, Department of Education. I am licensed in three U.S states including New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. Teaching English as a Second Language has been a passion of mine for years. I began teaching in 2010 in a brick-and-mortar setting and found a new passion for online education when I started online teaching in 2016. I have worked for multiple online companies both local and overseas, and have taught thousands of online classes in a variety of subjects (math, science, social studies, English, TESOL, and more), ages (ages 3-17), and class types (1:1, 1:4, 1:12, and even 1:60). Other things I love to do include coaching the local middle school dance team, cooking, and crafting with my children. In addition to reading, writing, and social studies, I hope to bring other fun and creative activities like dance, cooking, and crafts to the online classroom.
I take my job seriously but try to include elements of fun for the kids. I have a passion for working with children in an online setting, and I hope you will join me in my classroom.
