Learn about the science of seeds and make your own chia pet at home! Have the supplies listed ready and create this fun craft with Miss Caroline! Parent helped is recommended. Grow crazy "hair" for your DIY chia pet made from seeds, a panty hose sock or regular sock, and some fun decorations for your chia pet.
- 1-2 pantyhose socks (thin, adult sized socks are best) - Dry bean seeds (or if you don’t have it, sunflower, chia, or grass seeds will work) - A single use plastic or paper cup to decorate (white would show decorations most) - Rubber Band - Markers to decorate the cup (sharpies work best) - ½ cup soil - Spoon - Spray bottle *Optional: googly eyes, glue, stickers, and pipe cleaner **Video example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHrCCgpxTSI
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please make sure to help your child create this chia pet if needed. It is fairly simple, you can learn more about what it will look like in this video from YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHrCCgpxTSI * Please make sure your child waters their chia pet after class to avoid getting water on any electronics.
