Then this is the class for you! Each week students will be presented with a prompt within the fantasy genre. Each prompt is carefully selected to inspire and encourage them in developing stories of their own. Prompts are presented through a range of multimedia (ex. pictures, videos, text). During class, prompts will be analyzed and discussed as a group. Students will have an opportunity to share ideas and collaborate before breaking off on their own to write. They will be tasked with writing a short piece inspired by the prompt they have been presented. At the end of class, students are encouraged to share what they have written. This is a great way to build confidence, get feedback, and connect with other writers. Students are welcome pass if they do not wish to share. Please note, this class is not for nitpicking at students’ writing abilities. The point is to get them excited about the craft of writing and build up their confidence as writers.
