In this class students will learn how to write a Minecraft themed paragraph. In class we will be using the Hamburger model to help guide our writing. The "paragraph hamburger" is a writing organizer that visually outlines the key components of a paragraph. Topic sentence, detail sentences, and a closing sentence are the main elements of a good paragraph, and each one forms a different "piece" of the hamburger. During students will work together as a group, individual and with teacher. Students will then create a paragraph in class. We will not be playing Minecraft in class, but students will have several opportunities to discuss their favorite Minecraft buildings, favorite spawn areas and animals they like to train. My teaching style is creating an environment in which students feel successful when they are writing. Minecraft knowledge is is needed as this is what our paragraph will be based on. A one page Hamburger outline will available to print. We will use this for Minecraft Paragraph.

When the pandemic started, I knew right away that homeschooling was the journey our family would be taking. I have been homeschooling along with teaching. I began teaching when I was 18! I fell in love with teaching and showing students that they were Rockstars! (Reading Rockstar, Math Rockstar, Social Studies Rock Star). It was very important to me that learners felt that they were awesome and could rock any subject that was taught.
I have two amazing kids!! A Jr. in high school and a middle school learner. Our favorite things to do as a family is to travel and collect board games.
I am a huge advocate for special needs students. My son’s journey with Autism and ADHD taught me so much from learning about different therapies to IEP goals. I create classes so that all children with different abilities can participate and feel valued.
With my ten years’ experience, as a preschool teacher my passion is teaching children through engaging activities, while having fun. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a private tutor for Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Currently I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and becoming a certified Curriculum Specialist. With different classroom setting experiences I had the opportunity to focus on phonics, reading, sensory activities, science experience and history. Getting children excited about learning is what drives me every day.
