Class Experience

In this course the students will learn the basic programming skills to effectively design, code and test programs using Python programming language. The 6 week long course will focus on the basics of the Python programming language, and is ideally suited for school students who are interested in programming and coding and want to learn a very popular and easy to learn programming language like Python.  

The 6 week course will cover the following topics for the students.
1) Introduction to programming and coding
2) History, overview and features of Python
3) Setup and configuration of Python
4) Exploring IDLE (Integrated development environment)
5) Writing programs and saving and running them
6) Saving data - storing input, controlling output, data types
7) Performing operations 
8) Working with lists
9) Using control blocks, branching and loops
10) Creating functions, parameter passing and return results
11) Using Python libraries and functions 
12) Python library usage with examples and exercises

Learning Goals

The course is structured as a beginner's introduction to Python programming and requires no prior knowledge and background of programming. The programming concepts, examples and exercises are created keeping the needs of a beginner learner in mind, who is interested to learn a new programming language.
