This course is designed for students with little to no experience with Google Sheets. Students will use Google Sheets to visualize world population data. Throughout the weeks, students will get an understanding of how to present quantitative information and communicate their findings. Week 1: Students will learn to access data online and open it in Google Sheets, learn to plot the data in a few different types of graphs (bar graphs, pie charts, maps) and add features to the graph (such as labels, axis, titles, legends) that make them easy to understand. Week 2: Students will learn to extract trends and patterns from their data. Week 3: Students will learn how to interpolate and extrapolate from their current data and model future patterns. Week 4: Students will create a Tableau-style infographic with data of their choice.
I have a BASc and MASc in Engineering, and over 4 years of data analysis experience using Excel, Python, R and MATLAB. I hope to teach students the basics of data analysis and plotting, which are useful skills during secondary and post-secondary studies as well as in the workplace. 1 total ratings, 1 with reviews
