I have over 10 years in the medical community in the nursing field and over 12 years experience teaching Science. Additionally, I hold additional training in health, wellness and nutrition. Presently, I am perusing my Masters in Psychology to branch into a more guidance role for the School District. My expertise in how it relates to this course is as follows: My educational background, Bachelors of Secondary Education, credentialed in Microbiology and years of Nursing background give me the academic & first hand experience regarding Human Anatomy & Physiology. The field of Microbiology, specifically, is my area of expertise. The study of microscopic organisms falls under the components I teach in this course such as bacteria, viruses, archaeans, fungi and protozoa. Microbiology involves the educational background of biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, ecology, evolution and clinical aspects of microorganisms, including the host response to these agents. Vaccines are made from microbes that are inactive so that they are unable to cause disease. Theses microbes is the field of Microbiology… The antigen(s) within a vaccine is the same as the antigen on the surface of the disease-causing microbe. Biology, is the study of the structure, function, heredity, and evolution of all living things-microorganisms, fungi, plants, and animals. This course aligns with not only the foundation of my knowledge, but my area of passion and expertise and is something I am excited to bring to Outschool.
