Cultural insights on Hawaiian and Polynesian roots Basic foot patters Hand gestures Learning how to assemble phrases into choreography
I have been a longtime performer, student, and teacher of the Polynesian Dance Arts. I started learning the Hula because of my ancestry (related peoples) and love of dance. I have fallen in love with the grace and culture of the dance. Exposure to Hula will create a deeper understanding and appreciation of history, customs, music, and dance. Although classified as an ethnic or folk dance, Hula has a longstanding history in American culture. Not only will a child's mind be challenged by learning choreography, it is also great exercise.
