History of Architectural Styles: The Evolution From Neolithic to Modern

In this 10-week course, we will examine how architectural styles changed over time, the reasons for the changes, and a look at the features that makes each style unique. This class will be present with a Powerpoint so that we as a class can examine the buildings, features and more through photographs. I have a Master's Degree in history with classes based on architectural history and preservation. I recently published my thesis, which in part discussed the evolution of structures and social norms in New Orleans.
This class will mention war and other major events in history as part of the reason for the evolution of building styles. These will not be the focus of the class, but will be part of the dicussion.
We will reference or use the following sources throughout this class: Guidelines set forth or information provided by the American College of the Building Arts, The National Archives, English Heritage, Historic UK, Zigurat Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, and works by J. Mordaunt Crook and other articles from Architectural History Journal which are available on JSTOR.
