Class Experience

If you have been assigned a writing prompt for classwork, we can begin with that prompt. If not, I will have suggested topics.

I teach writing in college currently, so I can get your learner on the right track for college prep.

My teaching style is very encouraging and supportive. Unfortunately, we are virtual - so we will use Google Classroom as a learning platform as we meet face-to-face on Zoom.

Informational essays require research, so, after we have chosen a topic, we will work on finding the best sources, how to annotate the articles for the information that we need. Then, we will also learn how to include in-text citations and a work cited page using MLA format.

Day one- topic (ideas), mind mapping/outline/rough draft

Day two-organization, introduction, details, conclusion, thesis statement

Day three-revising for word choice, voice, and sentence fluency

Day four-editing

Students will improve their understanding of the steps for writing an informative essay and understand how to read and address a prompt.

Printer, paper, writing utensils. Also, a writing prompt if you have been assigned one for schoolwork

Hello!!. My name is Mrs. Beth Lanthier.

I taught elementary school (grades 2-8) for twenty years. My Master's Degree is in Reading and Language Arts - and that is my passion. My favorite moments are when kids who don't like to write, begin to love it! 

In the fall, I teach reading, writing, grammar, and  College Success Skills to college students

Teaching is my passion, and my philosophy is that the influence of a good teacher can never be erased. I hear back from former students about how I impacted their lives and how they are passing that on to their children.

I will offer classes in reading, writing, English, journaling, and bullet journaling. If you look at my available classes, I offer a lot of book clubs also.

I look forward to passing on my enthusiasm and knowledge to each and every student.
