Halloween Fractions Aren't Scary, Let's Learn About Numerators and Denominators
In this one time class, your child will learn what numerators and denominators are using a family of Halloween Bat Treats that your child makes. I've created flashcards to help reinforce the concept of numerators and denominators.

In this one time class, I will teach your child the basic concepts of numerators and denominators using Halloween Bat Treats your child makes in class. We will focus on the basic foundation of what a fraction is made of and how to show this using the Halloween Bat Treats. The class is structured as a fun but educational class. While the children are being creative, they will also be learning key math concepts that they will remember because of the relaxed teaching environment. Basic structure of class will be: Introduction/ Class Overview Learner Introductions Modeling How to Make Relevant Project Questions Using Project to Demonstrate Concept Learners Demonstrating Concept/Asking Questions/Comments Wrap Up Learner Reflections **Please note that this is a guideline. I may need to adapt the structure; however, the concepts will still be the same. Throughout the class, I encourage the learners to be curious, inquisitive , and have FUN. This is an interactive basic concepts class that embraces educational play as we focus on numerators and denominators. Your child should be vaguely familiar with fractions, could be just starting to learn them, or having problems grasping the basics of numerators and denominators. Although no prior cooking knowledge is necessary, it is important to completely read over the ingredient list (have the ingredients ready) and do anything that is listed in the section that is labeled To Do Before Class. Supply List is Provided along with Flash Cards once learner is enrolled. (Please read at a few days before class.)

Teacher expertise and credentials
When I was a young child, I was told by many teachers that I was not good at math. That distorted thought haunted me through elementary, middle, and high school as a result, I did quite poorly in any subject that required math. But a shift happened when I went to culinary school, I began to grasp mathematical concepts because I could see them in practical applications. I began to excel in my math classes. In fact, I was often referred to as a "Math Wizard."
It is my hope to bring out the "Math Wizard," in your child, by making math a nonintimidating approachable subject that is fun to learn.
