In this one time class we will talk about Groundhogs Day and what it is. We will then read a funny book Groundhog Gets A Say by Pamela Curtis Swallow. In this book the Groundhog is upset that he only gets 1 day a year and he feels he should get a entire month. As he goes through all the reasons why he should get a entire month we will learn lots of facts about the groundhog that we will talk about as we read the story. After the book we will make a groundhog puppet out of a paper bag. For the craft you will need a brown paper bag (lunch bag size), brown construction paper, glue, black paper, googly eyes for the eyes, white paper for the teeth and scissors.
