Description
Class Experience
Learning a new language takes practice, and lots of it. This drawing class provides students with a fun opportunity to learn new French words each week. All students can do a further review to study the lesson for each week by using the free app "Quizlet." This is a class that beginners can take or even those children with some exposure to the French language, because new words are added to the Quizlet flash cards each week. The more review children have with the vocabulary, the less likely...
A minimum of 8 new French nouns is to be learned each week. They say to be fluent on a very basic level with most languages requires a working vocabulary of at least 500 words. This is an ongoing class, so that is our eventual goal!
I am offering this class because I grew up in a French bilingual home and many top Universities today expect students to learn another language, so I know it is important. I teach English as a second language, and many English students have told me that they learned their English by immersing themselves in the language through the arts: things that they enjoyed like watching movies, and through music. Drawing, of course, is an extension of that!
Parents are asked to sign their students up for Quizlet under my teacher account, so that all the words covered in class can be reviewed in a fun way online. I will provide that link once students are enrolled.
It is really useful if the students have dry erase boards, with markers that are a little finer in the tip. I find it very easy, as a teacher, to see the student's drawings that way.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
- Quizlet
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
