This class covers the basic skills all middle graders should have to be able to do the math they will encounter in the real world on a daily basis. The class begins with a quick introduction to digital escape room and how to get through each part of the experience. Students will access the Google Form on their own computers, we will not be advancing through the Form together in class. This allows each student to progress through the rooms at their own pace, solving the puzzles and challenges...
Confidence is my key word for the 2020-21 school year. This escape room challenge will help learners develop that confidence with skills they already have. Without the stress of a test, learners will know they can convert benchmark fractions to equivalent fractions. They will be sure they can put several similar decimal numbers in order from least to greatest. And they will be confident in using the operations with decimal numbers.
We will be using Google Forms and Google Slides. As with all math classes, a notebook or scratch paper and pencil will come in handy!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
