In May of 2019 I earned my degree in History, one of the areas I studied was African and African American History in depth. The lasting consequences of its past plays apart of my everyday life as an African American woman. When dealing with difficult subjects I have implemented brain breaks, reflection moments for students who needed it. Therefore, at the beginning of each class I will remind students that if they need to step off camera or turn off their microphones they may do so at anytime. At the half way point and towards the end of the meeting I will check in to allow students to express their feelings either with the rest of the class or through messages.
Homework Offered
There will be 2 reading assignments with a few questions to answer. It should take learners no more than 20 minutes to complete each homework assignment.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Kahoot! during the final class (It would be a good idea to have a second device, that way the questions are on the main screen and students can answer from the second device)Grades Offered
We will use Google Classroom. Students will have access the day before class begins.

African American History for the most part has been cleaned of a lot of impurities, including events like the Tulsa massacre because of its obvious racist motives. Learning about the start and the demise to this black thriving country is heart breaking, it was estimated that 300 people lost their lives. Although the event is tragic, it is still a moment in history that should not be overlooked. Violent/disturbing pictures and videos will NOT be shared during this class.
