Class experience
In each class, we will read a beautiful children's book about a new artist. The artist will be discussed and their works will be shared. The learners will become familiar with a new artist each week after listening to the story, and observing the masterpieces. The learners will then be inspired to create a piece of art just like the artist of the day! New art techniques, vocabulary, and skills will be acquired. In this class we will be learning how to collage, paint with watercolors, and...
I am passionate about arts education and believe that art is so important in a child's life! I am enthusiastic about each lesson I teach and every lesson has been carefully planned and tested in my art classroom. I teach in a positive way and encourage each learner express themselves in their work. I love helping students discover their artistic talents!
Please have the following materials for class: • 3 12” x 18” white sulphite or construction papers * 1 sheet of 9X12 watercolor paper (or similar rectangular size) * scraps of plain colored construction paper • cake tempera paint or liquid tempera or acrylic paint in several colors * watercolor paint palette • paintbrushes in several different sizes *water container • Colored sulphite or construction paper cut into 6” x 6” squares • Plastic container lids (large and medium to fit inside 6” squares) • Oil pastels * pencils • Scissors and glue sticks *** Several sheets of painted paper (please see note in parental guidance) or pattered scrapbook paper
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Younger learners may need assistance with cutting. *** Parents, two of the projects in this session are more successful when painted paper is used. A video on how to make painted paper will be sent to you prior to the start of the session. This is a fun little project for you and your learner to do together before class, but it is a bit messy, so your guidance and supervision is recommended. For those who wish for a simpler route, patterned scrapbooking paper is a fine alternative :)
