This class is taught in English.
I have been teaching German, composition, and arts & humanities for more than 30 years, and I have taught study skills to a large number of students over the years. I have a PhD in German Literature and was the 2014 Indiana German Collegiate Teacher of the Year. I bring first-rate content knowledge and pedagogical expertise to the online classroom, plus a genuine love of working with young learners. Because I have extensive experience at the college level, I know just where high school students are headed and can expertly guide them as they prepare themselves for the next step. My focus on learning strategies and study skills is useful for any learner. See my Profile Page for my resume.
The study method taught in this class can be of particular benefit for gifted or 2e learners, for learners with unique learning needs (ADHD, dyslexia, ASD), and for anyone struggling to do well on tests or exams.
Note to families: Some learners may need additional assistance at home to set up their learning system, whether they choose to go with a paper-based or digital system. I will post an information sheet to the classroom that includes a brief explanation of the why’s and how’s of the method and links to the Anki spaced repetition site for the (free) software download so that you can help your learner make an informed decision. You may wish to create an “Ankiweb” account for your child if you want to sync between, say, a handheld device and a desktop or laptop computer, but you don’t need to do so to use the program. You can check out Anki’s privacy policies here: https://ankiweb.net/account/privacy.
