First Level (Basic) Spanish Class

In this class students will learn basic vocabulary and some grammar concepts of the Spanish language. The interaction with students will be by asking simple questions, answering questions, repeating words etc. Visual aids will be provided in each class to help students understand and remember what they are learning in class. During the first classes students will learn vocabulary related to the school and the human body. As the course progresses students will be introduced to new grammar concepts such as subject pronoun- verb combination. Each week students will increase their knowledge based on what they have learned the previous week. In this class students will learn:

During the first classes students will learn the letters in the alphabet and the numbers. As the course progresses students will be introduced to new vocabulary and simple grammar concepts. Each week students will increase their knowledge based on what they have learned the previous week. In this class students will learn:

Week 1: Alphabet 
Students will learn, for example, the pronunciation of the letter "A" and one or two words starting with the letter like "avion".
Week 2: Numbers 
Students will learn the numbers from 1 to 100.
Week 3: Family and greetings
Students will learn relative names like primo (cousin) as well as common greetings like good morning (buenos dias).
Week 4: Days, months and seasons
Students will learn the name of the days of the week and months as well as the seasons (summer = verano). 
Week 5: Animals, plants and colors.
Students will learn names like platano (banana) and the associated color like amarillo (yellow)
Week 6: Around the house 
Students will learn common objects found around the house (bed, knife etc) 
Week 7:  Article conjugation
Students will learn the proper Spanish articles used with people, places, animals etc.(the dog = el perro, the dogs = los perros)
Week 8: Review
In this class we will review the most important topics covered in this course

Students should be able to follow the class explanation with the guide I will provide and they are encouraged to take notes. The guide comes with question that students will answer in class to apply and reinforce what they have learned. This is an introductory class therefore previous knowledge is not necessary.
