Intermediate Level
This 8-week course is designed to develop the art and discipline of creative writing into the learners' experience. Students will read about and discuss new perspectives and techniques for writing poetry and short stories. These discussions will lead into weekly writing prompts that build into finished writing samples. Students will gain confidence in their creative writing skills, learn how to edit their own and others' work, and build practical skills for writing poetry and short story formats.
Homework Offered
Homework will include short reading assignments (2-10 pages) and weekly writing assignments. Students will be expected to spend an additional 30 minutes each week on homework.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessments will be made in the form of group edits of writing assignments. These group editing sessions will happen under the guidance of the instructor in order to maintain encouraging and helpful feedback.Grades Offered
