Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This class aims to give students a detailed understanding of fossils, the fossil record, rocks and a variety of ancient creatures from dinosaurs to extinct invertebrates. Students will learn about extinction theories, fossil formation and the intricacies of the geologic column from the Cambrian to the Holocene. The materials include an interactive PowerPoint slideshow as well as a tour of a real fossil lab. At the end of class, students will get to work together in a rapid fire fossil quiz mini game. This class is best suited for dinosaur lovers between the ages of ten to fourteen and requires no former knowledge or experience.
Learning Goals
The goal for this class is that students will walk away with a detailed understanding of the geologic column, fossil formation and extinction. Students will also gain a broad perspective on the diversity of life through the ages on our planet.

Sources
The sources I use to make all my class material comes from my knowledge gained while in college and from from the textbooks I purchased for my classes, such as Bringing Fossils to Life by Prothero. I also use a variety of dinosaur encyclopedias I've purchased over the years such as Dinosaurus by Steve Parker and Dinosaurs by Carl Mehling.
