Class Experience
US Grade 8 - 11
Welcome to Explore Africa 2 of 6. These 6 classes will give you a comprehensive year of Africa, Africans and Africans in Diaspora. We cover the continent like it has not been covered before from an African Perspective. Giving insight that may not be published anywhere else as our history was not always written down or accurately represented. Rich cultures will be depicted, Trades, Empires and Exploration that took places. Africa has thousands of ethnic groups and languages, that fall under six major groups. It is home to the most genetically diverse people on Earth with the world's second-largest population and area. It contains 54 sovereign states (countries), eight territories. Africa, particularly Eastern Africa, is widely accepted as the place of origin of humans and the Hominidae clade (great apes), meaning that Africa has a long and complex history. The earliest hominids and their ancestors have been dated to around 7 million years ago. This class dives deeper into the six major groups. Each week we cover one region and learn at least two tribes from different groups. Their culture, customs, mythology, music, food, history and more. Week 1: North Africa Week 2: West Africa Week 3: Central Africa Week 4: East Africa Week 5: South Africa This is a FLEX Class which means there are no LIVE Classes. This is how the class will be conducted. *** Videos will be posted every week by the teacher. *** Every student will participate in the discussion questions posted in the classroom. There will be 2 questions each week. *** There is an exit quiz, game, food menu or dance each week for students to get involved.
