Beginner - Intermediate Level
**PLEASE NOTE** This is a SELF-PACED class and is PRE-RECORDED. THIS MEANS STUDENTS WILL WATCH THE PRE-RECORDED VIDEO. There are no live meetings. All interactions between students and the teacher will happen on the class page. This class will be presented via pre-recorded demonstration video. Students will upload images of their assignments for the teacher to see and comment on. This is particularly important if a final grade is required for homeschool or charter school credit. Why Self-Paced? *MY Self-Paced classes ALWAYS cost less than the live versions of the same class! *Self-Paced classes are an excellent choice for families with busy schedules. *Content is exactly the same as live classes, at a lower fee. *Students can work at an independent pace. *Self-Paced classes are fantastic for international students whose time zone doesn't match the teacher's (US Mountain Time), *Self-Paced classes are a great alternative for students who are uncomfortable with live video chat. Our Self-Paced format will be as follows: Content: Video demonstration of the process will be posted. Videos will vary in length depending on the type of art being presented. Some may be as short as 10 or 15 minutes while others could be ½ hour or more. Student work is expected to take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending upon the student’s preferred pace. Drawing Assignments: Students spend time completing their artwork and submit it via the classroom. Submit Assignment: Students are required to post photos of their completed artwork in the classroom on the designated post. Keep in mind, uploading artwork for the teacher to see is important for assessment and feedback. Detailed information about the content of this class can be found in the syllabus.

over 1 WeekLesson 1:
Draw and Paint Fall Leaves
Students will draw simple leaf shapes with veins in pencil, and then draw over them with a Sharpie. After tracing, we will erase all pencil lines. The crisp black Sharpie lines will serve as a nice contrast with the softness of the painting.

Supply List
Paper (good, heavy watercolor paper is strongly recommended; it can be found in tablets in craft stores and the craft sections of places like Walmart and Target). I recommend 9X12 but other sizes are fine! Watercolor paper ensures the technique will work properly. If watercolor paper is not available, heavy drawing paper or multimedia paper will work, just not as well. Pencil, eraser, sharpener Black Sharpie (the standard size is called fine point) Please don't get the skinny Sharpie (extra-fine or ultra-fine). We need the boldness of the regular size. Watercolor paint, any kind. The more colors in the paint palette, the more choices your child will have; however, we can work with the standard 8-color set too!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
