Class Experience

Having a specific interest and pivoting that into meaningful learning experiences will help develop important skills including cognitive, social, communicative, emotional and fine-motor development.

If your learner is interested in dinosaurs and would be happy to talk about or want to showcase their toys or creations, this class will provide that opportunity as the first part of the session. A learner can practice their speaking, listening and social skills in an informal and relaxed setting.

The second part of the session will be the action component through art and craft for skills development. We will cover a variety of activities like sharing knowledge and ideas, learning about dinosaurs, fine and gross motor movement, games and the most fun part, 'making stuff'! I will demonstrate, step by step and learners can follow along. The product need not look like the teacher's as it will be the process of learning that is more important. I hope your little one will be excited by the themes posted below, I am also open to suggestions thank you!

The week beginning of:
Mar 1: painted toilet roll dinos
Mar 8: straw craft dinos
Mar 29: plasticine/modeling clay or playdough dinos
Apr 5: dino bones to excavate
Apr 12: buried bones within layers
Apr 19: pointillist dinos

Other Details

Parental Guidance
If a learner is working on their scissor-dexterity, safety-scissors could be used. Some supervision may be required at times during the session although independence is encouraged. eg. cutting cardboard, an adult could do that beforehand. Learners can work at their own pace, so there is no pressure to finish by the end of the session; feel free to continue in your own time and maybe even apply what was learned to create different versions!
Supply List
Have an on-hand general stationery supply box with regular items like: paper, coloured-paper, glue, (safety) scissors, playdough, paints, coloured-markers, colour-pencils. More specific materials that would be required for the said session will be updated in the classroom.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
