In this course, students will learn a "simplified" cursive writing style that eliminates many of the curls and high tails of traditional styles. I have taught this style of cursive throughout my career as an educator in both the general and special education setting. The focus will writing both capital and lower case letters in isolation, as well as learning to read words in cursive. This course is designed for learners that are able to print all of the letters of the alphabet. They should also be able to read words in print (please see the session break down for the words students should be familiar with). During our Zoom meetings, I intend to practice the "I do, you do, we do" model. For example, I will show students how to form a letter (I do). Then, we will write each letter together and I will ask each student to show me their work so I can assist with any struggles (we do). Finally, students will be asked to write letters independently in order to demonstrate their writing abilities (you do). While students will be taught cursive, they will also be encouraged to recreate it "their way" because everyone's handwriting is different! Please note that students will need to turn on their camera's to show me their work, or else I will be unable to assess their progress. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! I have been teaching since 2002 in both the general education and special education setting both in-person and online. I have a doctoral degree in education and I am currently enrolled in law school because I believe that there is always more to learn! I love teaching students topics in English language arts, social studies, math, academic success skills, as well as arts and crafts. I love to teach, bake, sew, hangout with my family, and, of course, learn new things! I hope to "see" you in class very soon!
