Creating With a 3D Printing Pen for Art or Fun or Building Real Parts and Toys
Class experience
Want to build real things with just a movement of your hand? Introducing the 3D printing pen! This incredible gadget allows all the creativity of a 3D printer at a fraction of the cost and without any need for technical skills. A 3D printing pen is a small inexpensive handheld device that melts plastic filament and extrudes melted plastic out the nozzle, which instantly hardens enough to create actual 3D shapes. Learn proper and safe usage of a 3D printing pen, and gain inspiration from fellow pen artists for new ideas. 3D pens exercise and improve all of the following: Creativity Attention span Spatial Reasoning Perseverance Planning Thinking
You will need a 3-Printing pen to do the projects in this class. There are several available, here is the one I will be using in class: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HM4133L/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0 In addition, rolls of replacement raw plastic will be required in various colors to create the projects. This will be an ongoing expense.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
WARNING! 3D pens can be set very hot, up to 200 degrees C. Proper usage is important for safety. For this reason, the age limit will be strictly enforced. Parents must evaluate each students ability to operate the pen safely. IF in doubt about a child's ability to be safe, please provide adult supervision.
