In this class, students will create their own artworks inspired by master artists of the Modern Art era. Students will be challenged to use new knowledge, use new artistic approaches, and to broaden their skills in each project. The Modern Art era changed the course of artwork forever, and inspired much of the art world we know today. Awareness of the movement and master artists is beneficial for exploring one's own artistic voice. This class aims to expose students to more broad, in-depth views of the art world and its history, and to enrich students' skills, knowledge, and artistic ideas. Students will be challenged to try new techniques, and will ultimately strengthen skills and concepts over time. During each class, we will go over a new art topic that includes the background and history of each art style and artist. Students will then create a piece of their own inspired by the techniques, ideas, and mediums we are studying. Please Note: This class will require a variety of art materials, such as acrylic paint, watercolors, and drawing pencils. Please view the materials list to plan accordingly. A weekly breakdown of class topics is included below: Week one - Impressionism Week two - Art Nouveau Week three - Fauvism Week four - Cubism Week five - Surrealism Week six - Abstract Art Week seven - Pop Art Week eight - Minimalism Week nine - Conceptual Art Week ten - Earth Art Week eleven - Realism Week twelve - Neo Expressionism Students will be challenged to connect these ideas and find their own meaning of these different forms of art, and how it speaks to them individually. The tools from this knowledge will encourage students to think more creatively, critically, and deeply about their artworks as a whole. For any students looking to pursue art as a serious hobby or career, education about these art movements is crucial and will benefit them in their artistic endeavors.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone, my name is Brittany Lambert and I'm an artist teaching what I love to do.. ART!
I've been an artist most of my life, mainly focusing on drawing and painting. I earned my BA in Art in 2018, and am currently attending graduate school to become a full time art teacher. I currently live in Southern California, where I enjoy some of my favorite hobbies such as going to the beach, hiking, and of course, creating art!
I teach the basics of drawing, painting, and art theory through fun, simple projects that kids can enjoy. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to encourage students to understand how art is so much more than just learning techniques and creating masterpieces. Art is about exploring yourself as an individual and the world as a whole! I teach on Outschool to provide students a creative outlet where they can let loose, have fun, practice their skills, learn A LOT, and put forth their own ideas by expressing their artistic voice. I want students to grow knowing their ideas matter. After all, isn't that the point of creativity?! :)
