25 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
1-2 hours per week. If you would like homework for your learner to keep them accountable please let me know. I will be happy to assign outside activities. I do not make it a required part of the course so that there is no pressure for busy families!Class Experience
Students need at least about 2-6 months of prior Spanish exposure in order to feel comfortable in this class. It is highly recommended to come in with a foundation in basic topics such as colors, numbers, How are you, I am good, some prior knowledge about masculine and feminine nouns. Please message if you have any questions about that. If you would like your learner to join level 2 but are unsure if they are a good fit, I am open to meeting your learner for a one on one session to gauge what they know. We could also do a two-week boot camp style course one-on-one to prepare them to join this level two class. My teaching style for this course will be teaching basic phrases and vocabulary through images and repetition. Then students will get a chance to speak and respond to questions in Spanish so we can build friendships in the class through the language learned. Students will learn through repetition and connecting with me and other students. I always have cheat sheets already drawn out for learners to see conjugations in Spanish, and they use the cheat sheets to create conversation. With time they become more familiar with how conjugations work and no longer need the cheat sheets. Each lesson is learner led, meaning that the topic will be chosen based on the learners in the class and their ages, exposure to Spanish, etc. Topic A- Talking about things happening in the moment (present progressive) Topic B- Talking about things happening in the future Topic C- Difference between Spanish in Latin American and Spain Topic D- Chores Topic E- Poder (To be able to do something) Topic F- Stem changers in present and future *Important: In this class, I often use special vocabulary created to describe certain aspects of Spanish grammar, in order for learners to make connections and therefore grasp concepts in a fun way. Instead of using the traditional, longer words, I replace them with symbolic words. If you would like me to include the actual term used in linguistics, please let me know and I will be more than happy to include the real terms in your learner's class.
