Conversational Immersion Spanish: Weekend Sessions

This is an ongoing class for learners who have some experience with speaking Spanish. It is helpful if learners are familiar with greetings, colors, and numbers. Each week we will cover a topic for that lesson. We will learn vocabulary and apply that vocabulary to a conversation prompt. We will practice speaking to each other using that vocabulary in the conversational prompts guided by the teacher. Learners will be taught in an immersive setting with a powerpoint. Realia, songs, body language, change of voice, songs, and visual aids will be used to emphasize the target vocabulary and phrases. Weekly topics will be: 8/14 Birds Students will be provided with the weeks vocabulary and target sentences in English and Spanish on a handout. This handout will be posted in the classroom by Thursday night. Outside resources related to the lesson will also be shared in this manner.
Learning Goals
Increase knowledge in the Spanish language and confidence in speaking. Increase Spanish vocabulary and strengthen conversational skills while having fun! Learners will acquire the skills needed to ask and answer if they like, prefer, or see something.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Stephanie. I live in the sunny state of Florida. I have been working in the public school system for over ten years. My have my bachelor's degree in business administration. I enjoyed helping, teaching, and assisting others learn new things that I went back to get my Masters of Education from the University of Central Florida. I hold my teaching certificate in the state of Florida and I am certified in Elementary Education K-6 and Middle Grades Math 5-9. I am also ESOL endorsed by my state.
I worked for many years in the business sector then moved to education. I have taught Language Arts, Reading, and Math at the middle school level. Before working as a teacher I worked as a bilingual aide for ELL (English Language Learner) students in the public school. I also have experience teaching Spanish and English as a second language.
I am a native Spanish speaker. I spent my early childhood growing up in Mexico and frequently visited during the summers. I enjoy sharing my first language with others as it opens the door to exploring and understanding other cultures and the diversity surrounding us.
