Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Advanced Level
Use it or Lose it! ☺

This class will focus on improving conversational fluency, reinforcing listening skills, reading comprehension and vocabulary building. Each week, students will meet with me and other friends that want to keep improving their bilingual skills.

Every week, we read different presentations that I prepare for the class. I cover different topics:
βœ” Strange Animals
βœ” Festivals Around the World
βœ” Debates
βœ” Adorable Insects
βœ” The Biggest Trees of the World
βœ” Black Gold
βœ” Latin American Food
βœ” Surfing
βœ” Sports with Animals
βœ” The Antarctic
βœ” Why Zebras have Stripes?
βœ” Wonders of the World, etc.

We discuss any fun facts and the students' experience with the week's topic. All students are encouraged to take turns and read out loud. I keep the classes small so all students have time to share their opinions or ask questions. I help the class with unknown words or concepts and this reinforces the acquisition of new vocabulary while we fall naturally into the rhythm of the Spanish language.

Students can join us any week, practice their bilingual skills and meet friends!

Hola NiΓ±os! My name is Jackie. I was born and raised in PerΓΊ. Now, I live in Virginia with my family. I hold a B.S. in HR Management and I'm a Certified Interpreter/Translator for the Winchester Public Schools and local hospital. In addition, I'm TEFL certified and I have been a Spanish Teacher since 2004. My first experience as a teacher was in a regular classroom setting but since 2016, I have become a Virtual Spanish Instructor. Online platforms allow me to reach out to students from all over the World. I enjoy preparing my students try their first words in a foreign language. At the beginning they can be very hesitant but little by little, I help them build their confidence and speak in full sentences. Teaching my language is a very rewarding experience! πŸ˜ƒTherefore, I have designed Online Spanish lessons for Beginners, Mid and Advanced students so my little and big learners can keep taking as many classes as they want. Your children can take One-Time lessons, Multi-Day classes, Ongoing Conversational sessions and / or participate in Book Readings, Spanish Camps or Semester Spanish Classes!

My teaching philosophy is learning while having FUN and presenting the material in small pieces. I keep my classes small (1-8 students max.) and we do a lot repetition. My goal is for students to internalize the vocabulary so they can use it in their daily routines.

In addition, as an experienced Spanish Teacher, I follow the TPRS Method (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). TPRS lessons are a mixture of reading, storytelling, activities, games and repetition. This methodology motivates and prepares my students to trust themselves speaking, reading and understanding a foreign language. I use a lot of visual aids during the class so everyone can follow the sessions.
