Class Experience
In this class, we will go through each of the 9 sections of the CogAT assessment. Each week will be spent on one section. We will start with a description of that section and what is being asked of the students on that part. We will then have a tips and tricks lesson on that particular section. We will go through some examples and practice questions after that. During our time, we will start more straight forward and with direct instruction. By the end, we will have more fun and will likely play some games as students are able to work through the problems. Here is a breakdown of what we will do each week: Week 1: Intro to the test, Verbal Analogies, and Number Analogies Week 2: Sentence Completion, Verbal Classification, Figure Classification Week 3: Number Puzzles and Number Series Week 4: Figure Matrices and Paper Folding With there being 3 very different subtests, each day will be different in how it is presented and exactly how we will do our learning. Students will be engaged, they will be expected to interact and answer questions (please let me know privately ahead of time if this will be an issue with your child), and students will be able to leave each class with gaining specific knowledge about an additional part of the test. Students will need to have pencil and paper for our weekly class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a public school elementary teacher who works with two unique groups of students. I spend part of my day working with students who are struggling in reading, math, and writing. I spend the other part of my day working with gifted students in reading, math, and general intellectual abilities. This allows me to provide instruction to a wide range of children's abilities.
