It's time to crank up the carols, and have some cookies and hot chocolate while we write down our most merry Christmas creations! If you're like me, you get really excited during the holiday season! In this class, we're going to use that jolly energy to get creative with our writing. We're going to write Haiku (classic Japanese form), Diamante (diamond-shaped), and Concrete (various-shaped) poems that all celebrate time of year that we love. I'm a poetry nut! I love to read poems, and I love to write them. In my experience, I've found that Haiku is one of the easiest and most enjoyable form to teach kids whether they consider themselves to be writers or not. It's just plain fun!
