Description
Class Experience
I have 20 years experience working with young people. Many of those years the youth were considered "at-risk-youth". This experience has been in a clinical setting, community setting and public school setting. Working with both the offenders and victims I have a great deal of knowledge on this subject. I hold a master's degree in Human Services specializing in Health and Wellness. I was also trauma certified in 2014. I was the Clinical Supervisor for an outpatient treatment facility overseeing behavior plans, facilitating social skills groups and teaching young learners how their choices directly impact their life. My career has focused on youth and helping them make healthy choices for themselves.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be discussing the impact of bullying in class. The class will be informative with sensitive material not being addressed. The class will not discuss any situation of a person ending their life for bullying. The course is designed to help learners have the tools to navigate through their teen years and beyond. The course will encourage students to talk to their parent or guardian for any sensitive materials and personal concerns they may have. The course is a discussion and informational class.
The material that will be utilized is called "Bully Guide-Prevention and Intervention" by Michal Lujan, M.Ed. The guide was created for students to be taught in schools. The website to further look into the material is mentoringminds.com Every state in the U.S. has their own law. The information can be found here: https://www.stopbullying.gov/resources/laws We will also use this intro to bullying video: https://youtu.be/KQZ9hDDz704
