Class Experience

In Blog Posting I, I share ideas and methods with example and practice. We begin with an explanation and shared thoughts on what a blog post is. Many people confuse a blog, which is website page, with a blog posting, which is something written that goes on a blog and frequently visits other blog sites as well. We will discuss how blog postings are used to increase what is known as an internet "footprint," or basically the expanse of a person's or businesses popularity.

We will work to create good titles together, seeing multiple examples in popular industries. Students will create titles of their own, and learn to supplement them with subtitles, both of which are used to grab the reader's eye and draw in attention.

We also work on lead lines, and subheads, both of which are short, easy to understand and summarize the message but show it in a quick group of words. We also discuss content, and the dependence of a blog post on images, from photos to illustrations, to "infographics" and other data representations.

We discuss the design or visual layout, and how it will match the projected audience.
All classes are conducted live with lecture and interaction between students and teacher.

Ultimately, we will work together to create a strong blog post, and see examples of live blog posts in various topics.

Just FYI, patience and good humor are part of all of my classes, and each student is encouraged to engage and joyfully learn at his or her own pace.
