Class Experience
Over the 3 classes, the following topics will be covered: Day 1 : * finger numbers * names of the keys * steps and skips * practice songs on the black keys Day 2: * notes on the treble clef staff for C position * note values * how notes can move on the staff * practice songs on the white keys Day 3: * combining note reading with reading steps/skips to play simple songs * add dynamics if time permits
Students will not have required homework outside of class time, although practicing is highly encouraged. If students find some time to practice, they will have more time during class to ask questions and move onto more advanced songs.
A piano or keyboard is needed for this course, along with a laptop/tablet/phone set at a side angle so I can see the students' hands on the keys. All music and handouts will be provided digitally. Students are encouraged however to find music that they are interested in learning.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
