This class is a way to explore the many types of engineers that help us every day! We will use the Engineer Design Process and create a design that will help us improve our daily lives! Class will consist of learning and repeating vocabulary, an inside look at what engineers do, a class discussion about different types of engineers, learning how engineers solve problems, and begin the engineer design process by creating a model or prototype of their new engineered idea. In my classes, I also like to include a good amount of repetition and movement to master vocabulary comprehension. By connecting the whole body through learning I find students are more likely to retain harder concepts. In addition, each student will get to share their ideas and learn from one another. Students should be able to unmute themselves on Zoom, use something to write/draw with, and handle building materials appropriately.
Learning Goals
Students will enhance their knowledge of careers in the engineer field while designing something useful to help them in their daily lives!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am offering a fun way to introduce engineering, coding basics, designing with LEGO, and vocabulary to early learners. I am a STEM teacher for a school I helped start up six years ago and I have had a great time learning along the way! I especially love working with all the students throughout the whole school grades K-5. I think that learning sticks in our brains when we move and feel it! I hope that my whole body learning approaches will get your students engaged and intrigued to guide their own learning. I love being outdoors in nature and especially being at the beach or in the mountains, which is why I appreciate living in North Carolina so much!
