Enroll your learner in this fun filled exciting course where he/ she will learn how to socialize with peers, build self-confidence and develop the necessary vocabulary skills to help them thrive academically.
Class experience
US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this class students will learn basic spelling strategies and they will build phonemic awareness of certain sounds to help them correctly join letters to form words. Students will also learn how to spell a series of words in a sentence. Students will be taught these skills virtually online through live instruction.

Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Basic SpellingSpelling words with long a vowel sound.Week 2Lesson 2Spelling Words with short vowel sound "e"Spelling words with long and short e sounds as well as words with letter combinations -ea, -ie, -ee, e and y.Week 3Lesson 3Spell Short and Long "I" words.Spell words that end in the -ind, -ile, -ight, and -ink word familiesWeek 4Lesson 4Spell words with the Long "o" sound.Students will distinguish between one and two syllable Words.Week 5Lesson 5Spell words with the short and long "u" sound.Spell words with an initial /y/ Sound.Week 6Lesson 6Spell Words that end with a silent "e".Spell words that are homophones. Compare past and present tense verbs.Week 7Lesson 7Spell words with double Consonants.Divide words into Syllables.Week 8Lesson 8Spell words that end with -ing or -ed.Spell irregular past tense Verbs.
At the end of this class students will be able to spell more than 500 basic words of the English language for their age group.
I have served as a Spelling Bee Coach, and I have taught reading and vocabulary classes for more than twenty years.
Homework Offered
Digital Homework will be assigned on other platforms like Learning Vocabulary A-Z which make it easier for students to submit completed work online.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Online digital assessments will be given to all learners. The scheduling for assessment completion will be flexible.Grades Offered
Grades will be provided by parental requests and/ or by default to all learners. Grades are used to give parents and idea of what skills their learners still need to develop or master.
This course is designed to support students of different academic backgrounds and students with disabilities can enroll and be successful. We will be using a multi-sensory approach, flashcards, visual cues and phonemic awareness.
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
