I have been teaching dance for over 25 years. I am a qualified professional dance teacher with the NCDTA (Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association, UK) and the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association). I have taught all ages of Ballroom from young to adult. I am currently the Children's Program Director of a Dance Studio in the USA. I competed in Ballroom all over the U.K. until I turned Professional to pursue a teaching career during which time I have trained many Ballroom competitors successfully winning events around the U.K. I also taught the Ballroom and Latin American Society at Durham University teaching hundreds of students every week for many years before moving to the USA. I am also a fan of 'Dancing With The Stars' and followed the UK version 'Strictly Come Dancing'; even appearing on the BBC show in some fun features!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As this is a dance class please ensure that children have enough free space to move around and remove anything they may bump into or knock down (e.g. your expensive vase!). Class Attire:- Please wear appropriate free-moving clothes e.g. tee-shirt with leggings. Leotard/dance skirt. Footwear:- Ballroom shoes (if you already have some and your floor surface is suitable to use them on). Other dance shoes (such as jazz/character/ballet) or bare feet are suitable depending on the surface of your home floor. Avoid socks due to the risk of slipping unless on carpet. Avoid heeled shoes due to the risk of tripping or slipping. Fitness:- Your child should be in a fit and healthy state. Please check with your doctor if you have any concerns. Potential for Injuries:- This Ballroom Dance class has very low risk for injuries when following the teacher's guidance.
