Description
Class Experience
Students will strengthen their appreciation and understanding of contributions made by Black America. By drawing the looks inspired by Awesome African-American Women, students will enhance their creativity and artistic skills.
I have celebrated Black History Month all my life; thus, I am very aware of the celebration and the African-Americans who are regarded as influential people in the Black community. In addition, I have a BA in Sociology from UCLA in Los Angeles. I also have a Graduate Certificate in Gender Studies from USC in Los Angeles. With a combination of real life experiences and cultural studies in college, I am eager to share the beauty of my diverse community through drawing of my original character, Travel Girl .
1.) Color and post the drawing to the classroom 2.) Complete the "Travel Girl's Diary" worksheet and write about "a day in the life" of their Travel Girl.
** color pencils, paper, pencil, eraser
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If requested, student can receive an informal assessment of the final drawing and completed homework.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
*Note: This class is part of a series where students can learn about 28 Awesome African-American women to celebrate Black History in the USA.
