Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
This class will provide an engaging and informative introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) 🤖 and machine learning (ML) 💻 while allowing students to apply their new knowledge through hands-on programming projects. The underlying theme of the class is ocean life 🌊🐳

In Part 1 of the class, we'll cover the following (discussions + videos + slides):
✅ The basics of AI and machine learning, including how they work.
✅ Explore real-world examples of machine learning in biology, physics, automotive, and aviation.

For hands-on project # 1 (games + practical exercise), students will get to:
✅ Train an AI to clean the ocean.
✅ Train an AI to identify objects that should be in the water, while learning about the themes of water pollution and ocean life.

In Part 2, we'll delve deeper into (videos + discussion):
✅ The importance of data quality.
✅ The differences between biased and unbiased data.

This will be followed by hands-on projects # 2 and 3 (games + practical exercise), where students will learn to:
✅ Use training data for AI.
✅ Teach a new word to an AI robot.

The class will conclude with a discussion on the social impact of robotics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, including their potential risks.

❗️ Learners will need a computer/laptop for this class. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this class is perfect for curious minds. No prior knowledge is required - just bring your curiosity!

Parental Guidance
This class will involve the use of code.org website. The instructor will give a link to the students where they can access the machine learning model to train it. It is up to students to create or not create an account on code.org. Creating an account will let them save their progress (which is not necessary since it is a one time class).
